Keegan unhappy with Gallagher's display

Kevin Keegan expressed his dismay at the poor standard of refereeing displayed by Dermot Gallagher during City's 3-0 defeat at home to Chelsea.

Gallagher appeared to "bottle it" when faced with a couple of early decisions that, if interpreted correctly, could well have seen Chelsea down to 10 men and City with an early lead.

The most glaring mistake came in only the second minute. Shaun Goater found himself in the clear and through on goal only to be pulled back by Marcel Desailly. The pull was obvious to all in the ground except for the "professional referee" that Gallagher claims to be.

Keegan was obviously unhappy with the decision telling the after match press conference what he thought of the decision.

"I am livid. I think the cameras will show Dermot made a mistake. If he sees that as a foul, he knows he has to send Desailly off and we feel very hard done by.”

Gallagher went on to further display his incompetence in turning down a clear penalty appeal when Le Saux brought down Anelka and only showing Lampard a yellow card for a lunge on Berkovic that was every bit as despicable as the tackle that saw Tiatto sent off against Blackburn last month.

Chelsea went on to win the game 3-0 with Zola scoring 2 and the otherwise inept Hasselbaink grabbing the third.
