The Dublin-born forward was a mainstay in the reserves last season and played a part for the first team during the pre-season tour of Thailand.
He made two sub appearances on loan at Second Division Lincoln towards the end of last season and now he wants to use the opportunity of playing Championship football to boost his chances of earning a first-team break at City.
"It’s a good standard of football and I can show the manager what I can do and come back," the 19-year-old told the City website.
"Other people have gone out on loan and come back with a spring in their step and that’s what I hope to do.
“City has always been the number one aim, and everything’s built around getting into the first team, and hopefully this will help.”
