According to the Evening News, talks are ongoing with Manchester city councillors about the 6,000 capacity stadium, which will host the British Olympic athletics trials in July.

Final agreement will depend on bringing the smaller ground into line with FA regulations, specifically introducing a greater number of turnstiles. The second string currently play at Ewen Fields ground, home of Hyde United.

Meanwhile, the club have announced that they will be staging the Great Britain rugby league clash against Australia on October 30.

City are also looking to put the finishing touches to their pre-season programme. It is hoped that European opposition will attend for the first game back at Eastlands on August 7 with Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Feyenoord rumoured to be possible opponents.
