Croft hopes for test against City

In yesterday's draw for the third round of the FA Cup, the Blues were drawn against their Greater Manchester neighbours, where Croft has been on loan for the last month.

The 19-year-old has played in five games for the Latics, scoring in the last two, an LDV win over Hartlepool and on Saturday against Leyton Orient, when former City striker Chris Killen also hit a hat-trick to put Oldham into the next round.

Croft, though, is due back at City's Carrington training complex this week having completed a month's loan at Boundary Park, but is hoping for an extension and the opportunity to test himself against City's first team in a competitive match.

"That draw is totally unbelievable," he told the City website. "There is going to be plenty of stick being dished out.

"What a game that should be, it is what the FA Cup is all about. It will be a sell out with a fantastic atmosphere and I can't wait.

"I suppose it is up to City whether I stay or not and if they let me play against them but I would love to take part in the game.

"Oldham are playing well at the moment and City will know they have been in a game. I have enjoyed my month at Boundary Park. It has been a great experience and the team winning has certainly helped."

Croft has helped Oldham to three Cup wins, as well as league victories over Barnsley and Bradford, winning Man-of-the-Match twice.
