Why is the 2022 Community Shield being played at King Power Stadium?

Every year the curtain is raised on the English domestic football season with two teams battling it out for the Community Shield.

Pitting the prior campaign's FA Cup winners against the Premier League title holders, the showpiece event normally takes place at Wembley Stadium.

However, this time that will not be the case with the 2022 Community Shield champions instead being crowned at the King Power Stadium – home to last season's winners Leicester City.

When is the 2022 Community Shield?

Where is the 2022 Community Shield being played?

The 2022 Community Shield will not be played at Wembley Stadium as usual. Instead, the King Power Stadium is playing host to the showpiece event.

Although not explicitly confirmed by the FA, this was likely a deliberate decision as Leicester City are the current holders of the competition.

Why is the 2022 Community Shield not at Wembley?

The Community Shield cannot take place at Wembley this season as the national stadium is already in use for the Euro 2022 Women's Euro final.
