Weaver's injury setback

Weaver was making good progress in his recovery from knee trouble but broke down at the weekend and may have to go under the knife again which could rule him out of action for up to three months.

Keegan already faces being without the injured Peter Schmeichel for at least the first three weeks of the season and would have only youngsters Brian Murphy and Kevin Ellegaard to deputise should anything happen to his only fit keeper, Carlo Nash.

Keegan confirmed: "Nicky Weaver unfortunately has had a setback so we have a problem now with goalkeepers if Carlo gets injured. We would then be looking at the two young keepers

"Nicky may need another operation on his knee and if he does then you are talking three months. Everything was going fine with his recovery but then on Saturday his knee blew up.

"Unfortunately these things happen and they happen where you don't want them to happen. I will put it to the board that we might need to go and get one more experienced goalkeeper on loan, because of the deadline.

"I will be looking at loan until Christmas," he said.

"I don't think I would be doing my job if I didn't get another keeper in, good as young Brian Murphy is. Kevin Ellegaard is not ready yet, he needs more games."
