Tottenham players and staff left 'baffled' by Harry Kane statement

Some of Tottenham's players and staff have been left 'baffled' by the recent statement released by Harry Kane.

The England forward is being targeted by Pep Guardiola at Manchester City this summer, though Daniel Levy's refusal to lower his £150m valuation of Kane has left the Premier League champions frustrated in their pursuit.

90min recently revealed that Levy is growing increasingly agitated by the constant rumours surrounding his star striker's future and is adamant he won't be sold.

It seemed as though Kane was determined to push for a move and subsequently didn't turn report back to training with Spurs on Monday as scheduled, though he's since taken to social media to claim that wasn't the case and he would be attending training on Saturday as initially planned.

Having refused to explain his absence earlier in the week, fans have been left confused as to why he didn't report to the club's training complex, and they're not alone. The Telegraph report that some of the club's players and staff are also equally baffled by the situation.

Despite having insisted he wouldn't do anything to jeopardise his relationship with the Spurs fans, Kane now looks set to miss his his side's opening game of the Premier League season - which coincidentally sees them face City - as his period of self-isolation will only begin once he reports to the training ground and takes a Covid test.

The timing of Kane's statement seems particularly coincidental given City's £100m capture of Jack Grealish and Lionel Messi's release from Barcelona were confirmed just 24 hours earlier.

Not that we like to put two and two together and get the correct answer, but it may well be that Kane is attempting to build bridges with the Spurs fanbase given his move to City now looks increasingly unlikely.

Either way Kane is expected to be fined for his absence this week, as Tottenham attempt to put the whole saga behind them and prepare for the 2021/22 season.
