Tony pleased to step forward

Kevin Keegan's options are limited at the moment with City's injury problems, but he chose to reshuffle his line-up against Blackburn.

That saw Shaun Wright-Phillips move back to right-mid, Willo Flood over to the left, and Frenchman Sibierski therefore partnering Nicolas Anelka up front.

And the move appeared to pay off with Sibierski scoring a 45th-minute opener, but City could not extend their lead and Paul Dickov levelled things from the spot.

"I found once again my best position, which I think is just behind the striker, in this case Nicolas Anelka," Sibierski told the City website.

"It was not something that I expected the manager to do because we did not talk about it before the game but I enjoyed it.

"I feel like I can score more goals and felt good in the position but if I am asked to go back out to the left side of midfield again I will do so and try my best for the team. I will do anything that helps bring three points for Manchester City."

Kevin Keegan, who has just given Sibierski his longest spell in the starting line-up at City, added: ""I just had to change something. We couldn't get Shaun in the game up front as the quality of service wasn't good enough.

"Willo was doing okay on the right but Antoine wasn't getting in the game enough on the left as it wasn't going out that way. I think it worked to a certain degree but not enough to win the game."
