Although it had been claimed Tevez had kept himself fully fit during his two-week suspension, which ended on Wednesday night, manager Roberto Mancini still felt it necessary to set the 27-year-old to work in a different part of the Carrington training complex after reporting for duty at just after 12.10pm.
Tevez, in a black Hummer and accompanied by a companion, drove into the Carrington complex and was met by two of the club's security staff when he had parked up.
Mancini and the remainder of his squad has begun training earlier, at the regular time of 11am.
After confirming on Wednesday Tevez "had a case to answer" it will be interesting to find out whether Mancini breaks his self-imposed silence on the matter in his pre-planned press briefing to discuss Saturday's home encounter with Aston Villa, which is scheduled for Friday morning.
City officials are content to let Mancini deal with the Argentina striker in the way he feels is best, which is hardly conducive to any thoughts Tevez may have of getting some first-team action, given the Blues chief claimed the player's career was "finished" in the aftermath of that contentious Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena last month.
Little wonder West Ham boss Sam Allardyce is not abandoning hope Tevez may be persuaded to return to Upton Park, where he enjoyed such a successful season in 2006-07, scoring the winner against Manchester United that kept the Londoners up.
"The answer is I don't know," said Allardyce, when asked about the prospect of signing the South American on loan.
"I suppose the situation, from my point of view, is just if and when the decision is finally made regarding what's happening with Carlos at Manchester City, then perhaps my co-chairman David Sullivan might want to pursue it.
"That would be with my blessing, obviously. [Sullivan] was the man who talked about it with me first and if we could get him back here, based on what he did here last time and if he did love the club as much as he did, and if it was a possibility, then I think it's an outside chance.
"We'll wait and see."
Fears of a striking injury crisis at City have also subsided.
Mario Balotelli, who missed Italy's recent Euro 2012 qualifiers with a back problem, has recovered, whilst Tevez's international colleague Sergio Aguero has an outside chance of facing Villa after making good progress in his battle to overcome an adductor strain.
"Sergio could be ready for Saturday but I don't know if we will take the risk," Mancini told the club's official website. "I am sure 100% for Villarreal on Tuesday."
