Sven wants more of the same

The Blues are back in action on Saturday against Birmingham following the latest round of international fixtures, and last time City's international contingent returned in fine form.

The Blues claimed home wins over Villa, Newcastle and Middlesbrough and drew away to Fulham, while also progressing to the last 16 of the Carling Cup with a home win against Norwich.

"I will be very much hoping for a repeat of the favourable run that followed the last international break," Sven says in Saturday's programme notes.

"A draw and three wins out of four in addition to a third-round Carling cup win is a pretty good set of results and if we can do the same again this time, I will be a very happy man indeed!"

Sven is also hoping the City fans can reproduce the atmosphere they created at the last home game against Boro.

"The last time we played of course, we beat Middlesbrough 3-1 with a really spirited team effort and yet another wonder goal by Elano," he added.

"I think everybody in the stadium, except the Middlesbrough fans, really enjoyed the performance because you, our supporters were incredible, really incredible.

"The noise that was being made that day was fantastic, with all the stands singing to one another. The players and I really appreciated it and you can't underestimate the boost it gives to the team."
