The 23-year-old will not play this weekend and is expected to face Manchester United for his debut in the Community Shield a week on Sunday.

But he was quick to make his mark when asked for his views on Tevez's much-discussed future.

Aguero said: 'If he is here, then that's fine, but if not I will adapt without him. Who is here and who is not is not important, I will become part of the team.'

Aguero was likened to Brazilian legend Romario by City manager Roberto Mancini yesterday.

'I hope he scores all the goals Romario scored,' said Mancini.

However, Mancini's spending this summer may not be over and he hopes to add a midfielder and a right winger to his squad.

It is understood that Arsenal forward Samir Nasri remains Mancini's priority and that there are no moves planned for Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder.

As for Tevez and a possible swap withInter's Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o, it is understood that City will not pursue it but will listen if the Italians make a move.

City have reservations about Eto'o's age - he is 29 - and are concerned about the lack of any sell-on value.

Take two: Tevez and compatriot Aguero

Meanwhile, City misfit Craig Bellamy may yet be offered a way back into Mancini's plans after hinting that he is ready to try to rebuild his broken relationship with Mancini.

Bellamy has been frozen out of pre-season training by Mancini and was not included in the 28-man squad that arrived in Ireland yesterday.

City remain open to offers for the Wales captain but have told him the door remains open to him if he wants to speak to Mancini and attempt to forge a new working relationship.
