Pep Guardiola certain 'many bad moments' are coming for Erling Haaland

He may have made a sensational start to life in England, but Pep Guardiola is certain Erling Haaland will endure "many bad moments" in the future.

Haaland has been better than even his biggest admirers would have expected since joining Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

The Norwegian has scored 20 goals in 13 matches with 15 of them coming in the Premier League, making him the fastest player to reach 15 goals in the division's history.

He's only failed to find the back of the net in two matches, getting hat-tricks in three of them, but Guardiola has no doubt things will get more difficult for the striker, and says how he handles that will be crucial.

From what he's seen of his player's mentality though, he's confident he'll deal with it well.

"Many bad moments are coming for sure," said the manager. "And in those moments he must say ‘it's okay, now go for the next one’.

"We were surprised by his mentality. We know his skills, but how he behaves in the bad moments, in those situations...he will maybe go 20 minutes, not seeming to be involved in the game - but he is never out of the game.

"That’s because you always believe you’re in the process when you have the ability and you believe it’s always easier. Haaland is always there, saying ‘I will arrive, I will be there, I will score a goal’."

Man City face Liverpool next, and Jurgen Klopp has said his side can't compete with Guardiola's when it comes to strengthening their own squad.
