A report in the Guardian suggests that CityÂ’s strong end of season form after Spring wobbles has provided positives for the end of season reviews which will analyse the performance of various aspects of the club with an eye to identify areas of improvement for club chairman Khaldoon al-Mubarak.
With recruitment in mind the report notes that since 2013 and under two former Barca executives in Begiristain and Soriano, Man City have made a £141million outlay on players which it questions have made an impact equal to the outlay
Eliaquim Mangala, Jesús Navas, Ãlvaro Negredo, Stevan Jovetic, Fernando and Fernandinho, were brought to the club before JanuaryÂ’s Wilfried Bony at an additional £28m.
Before these signings the players that were brought to the club were the mainstays in Toure, Silva and Aguero and City will be keen to return to that calibre of signing which Paul Pogba and Kevin De Bruyne seem to represent.
Pellegrini and Guardiola have a further season remaining on their contracts and if the former champions can get a better return on their investment in the transfer window perhaps Pellegrini will be able to lift the title again and take the club forward.
