Onuoha and Hart in U21 squad

The young City pair have been selected by U21 coach Stuart Pearce, who was sacked as City boss earlier this month.

The U21 European Championships take place in Holland from June 10 and England face Italy, the Czech Republic and Serbia in the group stage.

Full squad: Goalkeepers: Ben Alnwick (Tottenham), Scott Carson (Liverpool), Joe Hart.

Defenders: Leighton Baines (Wigan), Gary Cahill (Aston Villa), Anton Ferdinand (West Ham), Justin Hoyte (Arsenal), Nedum Onuoha, Liam Rosenior (Fulham), Steven Taylor (Newcastle), Peter Whittingham (Cardiff).

Midfielders: David Bentley (Blackburn), Tom Huddlestone (Tottenham), James Milner (Newcastle), Mark Noble (West Ham), Nigel Reo-Coker (West Ham)
Kieran Richardson (United), Wayne Routledge (Tottenham).

Forwards: Matt Derbyshire (Blackburn), Leroy Lita (Reading), David Nugent (Preston), James Vaughan (Everton), Ashley Young (Aston Villa).
