The midfielder was dismissed by referee Barry Knight after conceding the penalty from which Everton scored their goal, but in his match report Knight states that the offence for which Wright-Phillips was sent off warranted only a caution, and so, the player's red card has been replaced with a yellow.

A statement on the FA website read: "We can confirm that Shaun Wright-Phillips will not serve a suspension for his sending-off against Everton on Saturday.

"In his match report, referee Barry Knight stated that the foul was a cautionable offence rather than a sending off offence. Therefore, a caution will be recorded against him but the player will not serve a suspension."
