The breaking news this morning is that City are preparing a £15m bid to bring Joleon Lescott to Eastlands, but any potential deal will have to wait until the defender has completed his England duty this week. However, Everton are reportedly ready to rebuff City, insisting that none of their players are for sale.

Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o's agent has fuelled speculation that the Champions League winner may be on his way to Eastlands by stating that 'no player would turn down a move to the Premier League.' His comments come as City prepare a £25m bid for the striker.

Mark Hughes could make another attempt to sign Arsenal defender Kolo Toure after the Gunners agreed a £10m fee for Ajax centre back Thomas Vermaelen. After strengthening the midfield with the signing of Gareth Barry, Hughes's attention will now be turned to plugging the defence.
