The Brahim Diaz transfer saga could be nearing its end, as reports on Friday suggest that the 19-year-old's move to Real Madrid could be finalised within days, and he will sign a six-and-a-half year deal with Santiago Solari's side.
The Spanish winger is one of Manchester City's hottest youth prospects at present, but is out of contract at the end of the season, and has long been reported to be unhappy with his first team opportunities.
The club were thought to be keen to secure him on a new long term deal, but ESPN report that the player and his representatives are currently in Madrid to finalise a €15m move that will see him move to La Liga immediately, rather than on the expiry of his contract.
It comes as part of Real chairman Florentino Perez's bid to snap up the hottest young Spanish players from around the globe, with the likes of Dani Ceballos, Jesus Vallejo and Alvaro Odriozola all arriving in recent years.
While it's unclear whether Diaz will receive an immediate improvement in his first team chances, he is thought to be convinced by Madrid's willingness to cough up the cash for his signature and offer him a long term contract.
Having made just four first team appearances for City this season, he has found himself behind Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane in the pecking order.
Similar reasons preceded Jadon Sancho's departure in 2017, and the English winger has kicked on, quickly breaking into the Borussia Dortmund first team and establishing himself as one of the top young players in the world.
Providing the move does go through, Diaz and Real would both welcome a first couple of seasons to parallel Sancho.
