Manchester City would welcome Carlos Tevez back

Tevez is due back at training in Carrington on Thursday after a move to Corinthians failed to materialise but the Argentinean is still seeking a transfer.

Seeking a move: Carlos Tevez handed in a transfer request this summer

The club captain, who was their top scorer last season as they won the FA Cup and qualified for the Champions League, requested a transfer earlier in the summer as he wants to be closer to his family.

But Silva is not giving up hope of Tevez staying, and he told The Sun: 'Carlos has to return and that's great. He's a very important player for us.

'I don't think we'll have a problem. We know Carlos well. If he stays, great.

'There are a lot of competitions and we hope to play well in all of them. He would help that.'
