Manchester City have not given up on Harry Kane and will continue to push Tottenham Hotspur to sell their prized asset before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
Spurs have refused all approaches from City so far this summer for the England captain, and they had hoped that their unrelenting stance had made it clear to the Premier League champions that Kane would not be allowed to move.
However, 90min understands that City fully intend on putting further offers to Tottenham chief Daniel Levy in the hope he could be persuaded to sell in the last week of the window.
City are expected to push their current offer to £130m, but sources close to the club believe that they will go to £150m to try and get the deal done. It remains to be seen though if that will have any bearing on Levy, and sources close to Tottenham do not see him relenting - and do not believe he will even consider an offer.
Kane is yet to feature for Spurs this season, returning to training late following his Euro 2020 exploits with England. He has recently returned to training and new manager Nuno Espirito Santo is considering whether to use Kane against former club Wolves this weekend.
Whilst Tottenham insist that they are not currently looking for a replacement, they have been talking to other forwards – who they have insisted they would want to play with Kane.
Spurs have spoken to Fiorentina about Dusan Vlahovic, who coincidentally has been linked to Man City as possible alternative should they fail to get Kane this month - although beating Atletico Madrid to the Serbian striker could be difficult.
Another player who they have shown a strong interest in is Lautaro Martinez and Spurs made an approach to Inter over the Argentinian, which was turned down. Inter are now in talks with the player over a new contract following the sale of Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea.
Regarding Kane, the ball is now very much in City’s camp. But it is anticipated that a new offer will be made in the coming days.
