Man City-Everton game to go ahead

Temperatures dropped to -15C in Manchester on Sunday night, although there has been no fresh snow in the area since Saturday.

City have been working hard at clearing ice and slush from the stadium area.

The club say the game will go ahead barring an unexpected turn for the worse in the weather, but although temperatures are set to fall to as low as -8C before kick-off,

there is no snow forecast for Monday evening.

They have also confirmed that the Eastlands pitch is in perfect condition and there are no plans for a pitch inspection.

Only two Premier League games survived the weekend programme with snow causing the postponement of seven games, including the high-profile meeting of Chelsea and Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

While most of the pitches were playable, it was the effects of the snow and ice on the surrounding areas that forced games to be called off on health and safety grounds.
