Man City vs Leeds: TV channel, live stream, team news & prediction

Two of modern football's great minds will be pitted against each other when Premier League leaders Manchester City host Leeds on Tuesday night.

While there is great mutual admiration between the two coaches, Pep Guardiola will be determined to see his City side improve on their underwhelming victory over Wolves and ensure there are no slip-ups as they look to tighten their grip on first place in the Premier League.

Although he could do with a win, Marcelo Bielsa will likely be dreading a midweek trip to the Etihad with his squad currently ravaged by injuries as we get into the thick of the festive action.

Here's 90min's preview of this midweek match-up...

Man City team news

In-form Joao Cancelo is suspended for this one having picked up one too many yellow cards.

Phil Foden was able to make an appearance off the bench in the victory over Wolves having been substituted as a precaution in the Cityzens' Champions League defeat to RB Leipzig. Nathan Aké limped off in the same game but was on the bench on Saturday.

However, Pep Guardiola has revealed that midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is struggling with back pain, so he may well be given a rest as the matches come thick and fast. Ferran Torres is a longer-term absentee.

Leeds are enduring something of an injury crisis, with star men Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Phillips out for two weeks and two months respectively with hamstring problems.

Rodrigo is also missing with an Achilles tendon injury, and at the back Liam Cooper is sidelined having also hurt his hamstring too. There is more positive news in defence, with Pascal Struijk and Robin Koch nearing returns.

Man City vs Leeds head-to-head record

Perhaps unsurprisingly given Man City's fairly recent rise to prominence, the head-to-head record between these two is finely balanced.

City hold the narrow advantage with 45 victories to Leeds' 43, although Bielsa's side are unbeaten against the Cityzens since they were promoted back to the Premier League in 2020 - holding Guardiola's men to a 1-1 draw at Elland Road in October before causing a big upset with a 2-1 victory away from home in April.

Man City vs Leeds score prediction

Although Leeds gave a good account of themselves at Stamford Bridge last time out, it is hard to see beyond a straightforward home victory here - especially given the Whites' injury problems.

Man City certainly weren't at their best in the narrow victory over Wolves, but a bit of rotation to freshen up the team should see them through here.

Prediction: Man City 3-1 Leeds
