Manchester City and Paris Saint-German do not currently hold an interest in signing Cristiano Ronaldo this month, 90min understands.
The 36-year-old has been told by Juventus that they will not stand in his way if he wants to leave and he could be available for less than £30m.
However, Ronaldo’s mammoth wage is the main obstacle to any deal as he is still one of the highest paid players on the planet on around £900,000 per week.
Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has been working in recent days to see whether a transfer can be engineered, although he only has a handful of clubs to engage with as the Portuguese legend will only consider a side that is capable of winning the Champions League and the huge financial implications must also be considered.
That led Mendes to Man City and PSG, however, it is unlikely Ronaldo will get his wish at this stage.
Club sources have confirmed to 90min that, as it stands, neither have an interest in making a move for Ronaldo and that is not expected to change before the end of the month.
Ronaldo is open to the idea of returning to the Premier League and City are in his sights - despite his history with neighbours United.
French outlet L'Equipe reported on Tuesday night that the Portugal captain has gone to the extent of contacting his compatriots in the City squad - namely Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias and Joao Cancelo - to discuss a move, while there are a number of players who could be used as makeweights, including Silva and Aymeric Laporte.
However, United fans can rest easy because a City offer for Ronaldo is not expected any time soon. The Citizens have been looking for a new frontman this summer and had targeted Tottenham’s Harry Kane, and while that interest remains, they look set to end the window with just one new signing in the shape of Jack Grealish, with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy refusing to negotiate.
PSG have also told Mendes that they are not currently interested, and that was even with the knowledge that they are in talks with Real Madrid over the sale of Kylian Mbappe.
Les Parisiens do want a new striker, but that could very well be Everton’s Brazilian star Richarlison. It is understood the Toffees will sell at the right price and talks have taken place.
