Man City predicted lineup vs Burnley - FA Cup quarter-final

A place in the FA Cup semi-finals is at stake when Manchester City take on Burnley in a last eight encounter at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

It's the first time that City legend Vincent Kompany has returned to the club as a visiting manager, and he'll have every confidence that his promotion-chasing Burnley can cause a stunning upset against Pep Guardiola's robotic-like serial winners.

City are likely to rest a couple of key first teamers, but the heavyweight artillery will be on the bench if Guardiola needs to wratchet up the pressure heading into the dying embers of what will hopefully be a good game to watch.

Erling Haaland could be one of the players afforded a sit down from the start, so here's how City may line up without him when John Brooks blows his whistle to start the game.

Man City predicted lineup vs Burnley (4-3-3)

GK: Stefan Ortega - City's cup goalkeeper will take his place between the sticks hoping to secure a maiden trip to Wembley.

RB: Rico Lewis - The sky would appear to be the limit for breakthrough City defender Rico Lewis, who you'd expect to pop up in central midfield when in possession.

CB: John Stones - Was given a rather unexpected rest in midweek as City blitzed past Leipzig in the Champions League. That early substitution could see Stones lead the defence.

CB: Nathan Ake - Has flourished in a central role and at left-back, silencing the many critics who said the Dutchman wasn't good enough to play for City.

LB: Sergio Gomez - The Spaniard hasn't seen as much action as he'd have liked this season, so this is an opportunity to prove something to Guardiola

DM: Kalvin Phillips - Just 56 minutes of Premier League football has fallen Phillips' way this season because of injury. He has to seize chances to start like this.

CM: Kevin De Bruyne - Was at his sensational best in midweek, days after Guardiola challenged the Belgian to get back to doing the simple things. Expect that and a lot more.

CM: Bernardo Silva - This could be the Portuguese maestro's final season at the club: wouldn't FA Cup glory be a nice way to go out?

RW: Riyad Mahrez - One minute Mahrez was the talk of the town at City, the next he can barely get a kick in the front three. Such is the life of a player in such a good squad.

CF: Julian Alvarez - A rest for Erling Haaland, ahead of a tantalising push for Premier League and Champions League success, should earn World Cup winner Alvarez a place up front.

LW: Phil Foden - A difficult couple of months is firmly in the rear-view mirror for Foden, who looks to be capturing his best form at just the right time.
