Man City in talks over deals for Atletico Mineiro talents Savinho & Yan Phillipe

Manchester City are set to raid South America once again and are in talks with Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro over teenage stars Savinho and Yan Phillipe, 90min understands.

City have recruited heavily in South America over the last few years and now nearly a dozen of their academy players hail from that region.

As recently as January they sealed the signing of 22-year-old Julian Alvarez from River Plate, who is set to arrive in Manchester in the summer. But now City are heading back to South America again as they look to secure deals for striker Savinho and midfielder Phillipe.

Deals for the two 17-year-olds are now in sight for City. An agreement for Savinho is believed to be very close, with the Premier League champions to pay just shy of £5m. 90min also understands a deal has already been agreed in principle for him to go on loan to Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven.

90min can additionally reveal that talks over midfielder Phillipe, widely seen as one of top young prospects in Brazil, are continuing as well. City first made contact with the current Brazilian champions last year and are now hoping to tie up a deal for him along with Savinho.

Brazil has been a favoured recruitment hotspot for City in recent years with the likes of Kayky, Yan Couto and Diego Rosa all part of their academy set-up.

The City Football Group also has an permanent presence in South America after acquiring Uruguayan side Club Atletico Torque in 2017 and later renaming it Montevideo City Torque.
