Man City agree deal to sign Atletico Mineiro winger Savinho

Manchester City have finalised a deal to sign 17-year-old Atletico Mineiro winger Savinho at the end of the season, 90min can confirm.

City opened talks with the Brazilian side earlier this year over a double deal for both Savinho and fellow 17-year-old Yan Phillipe, with negotiations over the former making significant early progress.

90min can now confirm that a deal has been formally agreed between City and Atletico Mineiro which will see City pay out an initial £5m, with a further £5m to be paid in add-ons. Atletico Mineiro will also be entitled to 10% of any future sale.

Personal terms have not yet been fully finalised but sources close to the situation see it as just a matter of time, with most of the talk now revolving around which side Savinho will join on loan once he completes his move in the summer.

PSV Eindhoven are seen as a likely destination but City are also considering sending Savinho to Ligue 1 side Troyes, who are part of the City Football Group.

Savinho will put pen to paper on his contract once he has turned 18 on 10 April.

City have been incredibly active in the South American market recently. From Brazil, the likes of Kayky, Yan Couto and Diego Rosa have all made the move to the Etihad in recent years, while City have also struck a deal to sign talented Argentina striker Julian Alvarez from River Plate, who Pep Guardiola wants as part of his senior side next year.

"If we signed him, it is to have him with us," Guardiola told Ole recently. "We believe that he is a player for us."

The boss continued: "Julian smells like goals and goals are worth money. At City, they saw him as an opportunity for the future, and he will be with us in the next pre-season.

"I have seen him on TV but I want to see him on the grass with his team-mates, doing what we want him to do. If we weren't convinced, we wouldn't have bought him.

"The reports we have are exceptional. He moves in small spaces and his finishing... it is something very difficult to find."
