Kevin De Bruyne fires Erling Haaland warning after Sevilla win

Kevin De Bruyne says he knows how to link up with Erling Haaland and believes the new striker will continue to improve and adapt to Manchester City's style of play.

The Norwegian has made an electric start to life at the Etihad and bagged his first Champions League goals for the club on Tuesday as City cruised to a 4-0 win at Sevilla.

De Bruyne set Haaland up for the opener, whipping in a cross from the right for his striker to convert from close range, and the Belgium midfielder has warned watchers that his new teammate will only keep getting better.

He told BT Sport: "I try to do my job, make the right movements and create as many chances as I can.

"I know one way or the other Erling is going to be there. For the moment, he's scoring the goals and that helps us win games. It's a perfect start for him.

"I think the way he has adapted to us is really good. Outside the goalscoring, there is still another part of the game and I think that part is maybe more tough to adapt to.

"But it makes it more exciting. If he can adjust to the way we play there, then the level is going to go up. That's what we demand from him. He knows and we know we can still do better but that's only positive."

Further strikes from Phil Foden and Ruben Dias helped City complete the rout in Spain, taking them to the top of Group G courtesy of goal difference. Borussia Dortmund won the other game in the group, besting Copenhagen 3-0 earlier on the night.
