Fowler's signing has taken the City boss' spending to behond £40 million since he took over at Maine Road eightee-months ago, but Keegan is convinced that by bringing in the former Liverpool striker will help take the club into European football.

"I am not concerned about his injuries," said Keegan

"At the end of the medical report the specialist said it is high risk because he hasn't played 90 minutes for Leeds. I knew that and it doesn't worry me.

"We have had players here who don't manage a full 90 minutes for six weeks because they are on the fringes or coming back from injury. In those situations you want to protect them.

"He has missed almost two years of his career and hasn't got the miles on the clock that he should have for someone of 27.

"This deal has been structured in a sensible way, with us paying £3million up front, plus an extra half a million every time he plays 15 games.

"It is a great deal for us and a great deal for Leeds. Robbie will play the games and they will get their £6million.

"This club is going places."
