Keegan defends tactics changes

Renowned for his attack-minded policy, Keegans tactics paid off as goals from Sun Jihai - his first for the club - and Nicolas Anelka sealed the victory at St. Andrews.

"This is a tough place to come and we have spent a lot of time this week changing things around and making little adjustments," said Keegan.

"I had to leave a bit of invention out of the side which for me is never easy but I am not afraid to do it if I think it is the right way to go.

"I took one of my play-makers out in Ali and I am not sure if it hurt him more than it did me.

"It was the same with Shaun and if you had a poll amongst our supporters last season then they would have said those two were our most influential players and they will be again in the future.

"We have all got ways we like to play but you should never get blinded by it.

"I compromised my values a little. I put a team out to do a job and it worked."

"In the last couple of home games we've missed that cutting edge and we've paid the price for it."
