Joleon Lescott reveals former Man City teammate who would improve current side most

Joleon Lescott has claimed that a prime Yaya Toure would improve the current Manchester City side more than any of his other former teammates.

Lescott spent five years at City between 2009 and 2014, helping the club win two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and a League Cup.

During that time he featured alongside some incredible players, but speaking to 90min recently the ex-England international revealed his belief that Toure would be the best addition to the current Cityzens side.

"It would be nice for me to go in there, because you'd be winning something!" Lescott said.

"Realistically, prime time Sergio [Aguero], prime time Vincent Kompany, but Yaya. If they have Yaya Toure, he was one of those players that if he played well, you won the game, there was no other outcome."

Lescott was speaking to 90min ahead to City's Champions League quarter-final first leg against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday - the latest obstacle Pep Guardiola's side will have to navigate if they wish to win the treble this season.

City are also competing in the Premier League - they sit top of the table by a single point with a potential title-decider against Liverpool to come this month - as well as the FA Cup, where they will again meet the Reds in the semi-finals on 16 April.

Improving a team that has maintained such impeccable standards in recent years is not an easy task, but Lescott did identify one player that his former club should be targeting in the summer transfer window.

"Personally, I would buy [Kylian] Mbappe," he said. "I just love watching him. I just love they way he operates, the way he plays.

"He gives me the feeling that Ronaldo [Nazario] used to give me as a fan. There's not many players I would pay to go and watch but he's definitely one of them."
