United dominated possession at Old Trafford but City restricted them to just a few chances, none of which they capitalised on.

"The pace of the game was very quick and we were the team on the receiving end of a lot of United pressure," he admitted on the City website.

"We soaked it all up and maybe we were fortunate but we deserved our point because we played well.

"The clearance off the line from Macca was superb. That is why we have a man on the post but generally we were superb at defending because every single man did his bit."

The 34-year-old added: "We were solid and got bodies in the way. The only disappointment was that offensively we didn't create enough chances.

"Roy Carroll hasn't had to make a save but it is not down to any individual it is just the way the game went."
