Serie A giants Inter have reportedly placed Manchester City's Kyle Walker at the top of their transfer wish list for the upcoming window.
Walker has been Manchester City's first-choice right-back since moving from Tottenham Hotspur for £50m in the summer of 2017. In that time, City have won six of the seven domestic trophies on offer with Walker a fixture of the side.
However, during the enforced football hiatus due to the outbreak of coronavirus, Walker has been the subject of intense media scrutiny following multiple breaches of social-distancing protocols which saw one paper label him a 'serial lockdown clown'. The attention Walker received was so intense that the player revealed he felt 'harassed' by the press in early May.
Inter have reportedly offered a fresh start for the 30-year-old defender by making Walker their primary transfer target in the summer window according to The Sun.
Antonio Conte's side are third in Serie A having dropped off slightly after spending much of the campaign vying for the title with Juventus and Lazio.
Walker would be the latest in a growing list of past Premier League players arriving at San Siro under the former Chelsea boss. Alongside the trio of Romelu Lukaku, Ashley Young and Alexis Sánchez from Manchester United, Christian Eriksen joined the Nerazzurri for €20m from Tottenham in January.
The flow of Premier League talent to Conte's side has also seen a departure in the other direction as Valentino Lazaro moved to Newcastle on loan in January after failing to impress at right wingback, leaving a clear space for Walker to fill should the deal be made permanent.
Portuguese right-back João Cancelo joined City from Inter's title rivals Juventus last summer, offering direct competition for Walker. While the England international has been rested on occasion, he has started 22 of City's 29 Premier League matches.
Despite the off-field transgressions, Manchester City's manager Pep Guardiola is not thought to have any problem with Walker and even selected him for the club's first game following football's return; a convincing 3-0 win over Arsenal.
