That rules the 32-year-old French utility man out of the friendlies at Tranmere (Friday) and Macclesfield (Sat), and the tour of Thailand.

City boss Stuart Pearce will now decide between upcoming reserve players Ishmael Miller and Karl Bermingham, two Academy graduates, as Sibierski's replacement for the five-day trip to Bangkok.

Sibierski joins Nicky Weaver and Nedum Onuoha on the sidelines.

Weaver is recovering from surgery after breaking a small bone in his wrist at the end of last season and could miss the start of the new campaign.

Onuoha is recovering from a hamstring tear he sustained in the last game of the season against Middlesbrough and is not expected to be back in contention until the end of August, after the start of the season.

The 18-year-old defender will also miss the chance to play for England in the Euro U19 Championship which takes place in Northern Ireland later this month.
