Hughes hopes to keep Blues buzzing

The Blues are at Brighton tonight for a Carling Cup 2nd round tie that was put back due to our UEFA Cup commitments.

Sunday's victory - City's biggest in the Premier League - has seen confidence soar amongst all us Blues, but Hughes has warned us not to set expectations too high.

"The danger is that they may well expect 6-0 every week!" he said. "It's not going to happen and we have to be realistic about that, but we'll enjoy the moment because it was special.

"We now have another game coming up and we don't want to go to Brighton and get into a situation where we end up with egg on our face.

"I'm looking for us to get the job done professionally, Brighton have nothing to lose, and they will be looking to turn around their defeat at the weekend.

"We have to make sure that the interest generated by our performance on Sunday is not diluted by the game at Brighton."

The Seagulls suffered a 1-0 home defeat by Walsall despite the visitors spending an hour with 9 men.

Robinho will definitely be given a breather while Martin Petrov and Nedum Onuoha are still out injured, although Michael Johnson might return.

"I will make changes to the team from Sunday, that's only right and proper," Hughes added. "I have a good squad and good players here, they need games but the team I pick will not be weakened substantially."
