Chelsea have confirmed that they have given permision to the former Southampton left-back to hold talks over a possible move to Eastlands although they have not revealed what fee City will have to pay for the England international.

"My understanding is the clubs have agreed a fee," City boss Mark Hughes has said.

"We need to speak to the boy and try to agree personal terms.

"If we can do that hopefully Wayne will be a Manchester City player, that's the aim.

"Wayne will probably travel to Manchester this evening (Friday) and hopefully negotiations will go well and he can have a medical tomorrow."
