Manchester City are willing to spend around £120m to bring coveted Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland to the club, according to a report.
Still just 21 years old, Haaland's rise has been meteoric over the past few seasons and he has become one of the most in-demand players on the planet.
Although he has had injury problems this season, the Norwegian has still scored 80 times in 84 appearances for Dortmund since arriving from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020.
Manchester City, one of the clubs where Haaland's father Alf-Inge spent time as a player, and Real Madrid have emerged as the frontrunners to sign the goalscoring sensation this summer, with his bargain €75m release clause due to expire at the end of April.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, City have already tabled offers to both the player and his current club, with the total sum likely to be way above that relatively cheap release clause.
The Cityzens are prepared to pay Dortmund the €75m (£62.6m) release clause, plus another €70m (£58.5m) in bonuses.
Should Haaland put pen to paper on their five-year contract proposal, he would earn £25m per year - around £500,000 per week. That would take the overall cost of the deal to a potential £245m, although a renewal on improved terms would be a near certainty.
90min understands that there are still a number of clubs in the running for Haaland's signature, even while City and Real Madrid are seemingly out in front. Bayern Munich are still hopeful and uncertainty remains over Robert Lewandowski's future, as revealed in March.
It has previously been reported that Los Blancos want to wait until next year to sign Haaland as they are prioritising the free signing of Kylian Mbappe this summer, with the Frenchman's potential arrival certain to command significant wages, agent fees and bonuses. There are, however, increasing suggestions that Mbappe could yet re-commit to Paris Saint-Germain instead.
