Erling Haaland agrees Manchester City deal

Erling Haaland has agreed terms on a summer transfer to Manchester City, 90min understands.

The Norwegian striker has been one of Europe's most in-demand players ever since his 2021 move to Borussia Dortmund, scoring 85 goals in just 88 games for BVB, and he is closing in on a move to the Premier League champions.

90min confirmed recently that Haaland's father, ex-City star Alf-Inge, has been leading the talks in recent weeks, speaking with his former club about the role they envisage for his son.

Pep Guardiola has laid out his ideas of how Haaland will fit into City's system, which currently does not employ a natural centre-forward. But following extensive talks, Haaland is happy with the plans that the club has for him.

Haaland will earn wages on a similar scale to City's current highest earner in Kevin De Bruyne, but with bonuses and incremental wage rises he is very much likely to become their highest earner during his stay at the Etihad Stadium.

Listen now to 90min's brand new podcast, Talking Transfers, with Scott Saunders & Graeme Bailey. On this week's show they are joined by Toby Cudworth and discuss the interest in Aurelien Tchouameni, as well the contract situations of Sadio Mane, Reece James, Pep Guardiola & Kylian Mbappe, and an update on Marcus Rashford.

Dortmund have long accepted that Haaland would leaving this summer and have been planning accordingly - they have already secured a deal for his long-term replacement in the shape of Germany starlet Karim Adeyemi.

It is believed that Dortmund will demand that City pay Haaland's full release clause, though City had previously hoped a deal paid in instalments but totalling a higher overall fee would be accepted.
