Making his 47th appearance for his Country, the City centre-back opened the scoring with a headed goal in the first minute of the match at Croke Park, Dublin on Saturday.
The Republic, however, had to be content with a draw from the match as the Bulgarians equalised following a 74th-minute own goal by Kevin Kilbane.
