Dunne in hot water

Dunne, whose late night drinking has been the subject of club disciplinary action before, is believed to have turned up for Saturdays training session in a condition described as "worse for wear."

The Republic of Ireland defender is understood to have been questioned on his condition by manager Kevin Keegan and the coaching staff and then sent home.

And now, Dunne's past history of bad time-keeping could see his contract terminated if City can prove they have given him previous warnings about his behaviour.

He has been suspended and fined two weeks' wages (around £25,000) and his fate will be decided by boardroom discussions later this week.
