Comment: Time for reinforcements

...I notice a recent post on the messageboard asked why City have brought in no new faces yet and I absolutely agree.

We've already got a thin squad and it's getting thinner by the day, so it's time to get some reinforcements in.

Trevor Sinclair and Sun Jihai may be about to return from long-term injuries but Sibierski's hamstring strain means we've had three new injuries over the summer. And although Sibierski's shouldn't take long to recover, Weaver and Onuoha are expected to be out for the first few weeks of the season.

We've got rid of some deadwood - namely Negouai, Stuhr-Ellegaard and
probably Bischoff too - and we've got McManaman and Bosvelt off the wage bill too. We even managed to get some money for Macken.

And I know we've still got little to spend but what about freebies?

With all these bodies going out, any more injuries and we're going to be really struggling. Especially if we sell Distin or Shaun too.

You can tell why most of those available have been let go but there does seem to be some quality out there.

Alessandro Pistone is worth considering and I'm sure his former Everton team-mate Alan Stubbs would be a useful asset.

Fulham have let Lee Clark go and he's even been reduced to calling Pompey to ask for a trial. Surely he would be a useful squad member too.

Being linked with a potential move for the likes of Romeo Castelen and Fredie Kanoute is all very well but we need to get some bodies in - and quick!
