THIRD ROUND - SEPTEMBER 24, v WIGAN (H) 5-0

City began their campaign with a repeat of the 2013 FA Cup final - and the result was vastly different. Manuel Pellegrini made 10 changes after victory over Manchester United two days earlier but there was little disruption as they eased through with Stevan Jovetic's first two goals for the club, an Edin Dzeko effort, a fine Yaya Toure free-kick and a late Jesus Navas strike.

FOURTH ROUND - OCTOBER 30, v NEWCASTLE (A) 2-0 AET

Alvaro Negredo and Dzeko scored in extra time as City saw off Newcastle in a lacklustre tie at St James' Park. City goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon had been the centre of attention before the game after a number of errors by regular first-choice Joe Hart. The Romanian made good saves from Shola Ameobi and Papiss Cisse in what proved the start of a run in the side.

QUARTER-FINALS - DECEMBER 17, v LEICESTER (A) 3-1

Hart was back in for the last-eight clash at the King Power Stadium, which City won comfortably enough, even without being at their fluent best. Aleksandar Kolarov opened the scoring with a powerful free-kick before Dzeko added another two. Lloyd Dyer claimed a consolation for the Championship side.

SEMI-FINALS, FIRST LEG - JANUARY 8, v WEST HAM (H) 6-0

City all but secured their place in the final as they demolished beleaguered West Ham at the Etihad Stadium. Negredo netted a hat-trick and Dzeko helped himself to another two goals while Toure also got on the scoresheet.

SEMI-FINALS, SECOND LEG - JANUARY 21, v WEST HAM (A) 3-0 (aggregate: 9-0)

The job was effectively done in the first leg but City had no intention of easing up as they travelled to Upton Park. Negredo scored another two, either side of a goal for his prolific partner Sergio Aguero, in another comfortable win for Pellegrini's men.
