This year they will travel to China for the inaugural World Series Tournamenta which also features host team Shanghai Shenhua, Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and Kashima Antlers of Japan.
The Blues will play two matches on August 4 and 6, although the draw has not yet been made.
The tournament will also be decided by an innovative points system, with 3 points for a win and 1 for a draw as normal, but there will also be 1 point awarded for each goal scored.
All games will be played at Shanghai's Hong Kow Stadium and this will be City's first official trip to China since signing their star international player Sun Jihai.
