Chelsea target Neymar should join Barcelona - Robinho

Chelsea remain favourites to sign the 19-year-old Neymar despite being knocked back with a ?25million bid last August, but the Santos forward's increasingly impressive performances have sparked interest across Europe's top clubs.

Robinho admits he would rather have joined Chelsea than Manchester City when he left Real Madrid for ?32.5m in 2008, but believes Neymar and highly rated Santos midfielder Paulo Henrique Ganso would be best to avoid the Barclays Premier League all together.

No go: Chelsea were unsuccessful in their bid to buy Neymar last summer

'I think both players are ready to leave Brazil because they are at a different level,' said the AC Milan forward, who spent six months on loan at Santos last year.

'They have impressive quality. It's about joining the right team, one which respects the qualities of the player.?

'With Neymar and Ganso's characteristics, I think they would do well in Spain and Italy. Imagine Neymar playing for Barcelona, with Lionel Messi and David Villa. My God!

'To keep improving, they will have to choose well, because they might have to change the way they play.'

Barcelona chief scout Alberto Valentin watched Neymar star for Brazil in the South American Under 20 Championship in February and was also dispatched to Sao Paulo to check on him again in May.
