Charvet leaves City

Last updated : 17 October 2002 By CityMAD
The 29-year old French defender was signed from Newcastle in October 2000 in a £1m four year deal by the then City boss Joe Royle.

Despite early promise Charvet suffered an achilles injury and then had a rumoured bust-up with Joe Royle.

He fought his way back into contention at the end of City's last Premiership campaign and was chosen by Kevin Keegan in his first game in charge.

However, after two further starts Charvet spent the rest of last season out of favour and was rumoured to be leaving the club during the close season.

He broke his hand in an accident at home last month and although now fully fit, he has failed to make the break-through into Kevin Keegan's first-team squad this season.
