Carlos Tevez- I want to leave Manchester City

Last updated : 20 May 2011 By Daily Mail

The striker is quoted in an interview on an Argentinian radio station as saying he is ready to walk away from Eastlands.

Tevez desperately misses his two daughters who live in Buenos Aires, and came close to quitting City midway through last season.

Mixed messages: Roberto Mancini insisted just days ago that Tevez would be staying at the club

It now appears that Tevez - who has again been overlooked for a place in Argentina's squad - is ready to force his exit at the end of the season.

He is reported to have told Radio del Plata, said: 'I want to leave Manchester City. Football has changed a lot for me and I don't know if I will even make it to the next World Cup.

'And that has nothing to do with whether I'm selected or not. I've been treated very well here and I'm grateful. I also gave my everything for the club to receive the results it has had. But I need a change of scene.'?

City boss Roberto Mancini claimed Tevez had told him he was staying after Tuesday's 3-0 victory over Stokewhich pushed them into third place in the Barclays Premier League.

Mancini said: 'He has a five-year contract and has told us he wants to stay. He said it before. He never had any problem.'

Although Tevez would consider a move back to Boca Juniors, it is highly unlikely any clubs in Argentina could afford to match his ?200,000-a-week wages.

Spain or Italy are the two most promising destinations if Tevez is able to seal his departure just two years after joining from arch rivals Manchester United.

Tevez added: 'To go back to Boca Juniors would be beautiful but it is very difficult.

'I spoke to their midfielder Roman Riquelme and, messing around, we agreed I would go back one day. But if we're speaking seriously, financial issues would make my return difficult.'
