Boss wants to keep looking up the table

The City boss admits there is a good feeling around the club with the team not losing in the last five games - the last two of which their first back-to-back league wins of the season.

"I think there is always a buzz around a football club when you do well," Keegan told the City website.

"We have been to Manchester United and earned a really hard point. We have then gone to Portsmouth and won where a lot of clubs have really struggled.

"Then against Villa, who had won 3 Premiership games on the trot, we had a lot of confidence and we beat them and really deserved to beat them. We have also played some really good football the last couple of games.

"It’s nice to win matches but it is nice to win them knowing that you have played some really good football and the crowd have enjoyed the game, which is something that we haven’t done that much this season."

Now Keegan is looking for the Blues to enhance their league position in the next 3 games against Middlesbrough, Spurs and Bolton - teams he feels his side are capable of beating.

"We have got games coming up where if we keep our heads right and our performances are as consistent as they have been, then a lot of these games are winnable," he added.

"I said to the lads before the game that if we beat Villa we would be looking up the table not down it, and that’s where we're looking now.

"I think we have earned the right to look up. Now we want to see how long we can keep our run going and how long we can keep showing that same determination and great spirit we have got. That will determine results."
