Bordeaux defender in talks

Sommeil, 29, has been in talks with City for some time but Bordeaux have been awaiting financial guarantees from City before releasing their player.

He is expected to sign a three-year deal at Maine Road if he passes a medical.

A statement on Bordeaux's website said: "David Sommeil will travel to Manchester to satisfy a medical examination with a view to a final transfer."
