Boateng puts nightmare start behind him

After confirming his move to Eastlands from Hamburg immediately before the World Cup and then catching the eye in Germany's run to the semi-finals in South Africa, Boateng's arrival at City was the subject of eager anticipation.

Unfortunately for the 22-year-old, his plans had to be put on hold when he aggravated a knee injury in a bizarre incident when he was struck by an in-flight service trolley during a short flight back to the UK.

It meant Boateng was unable to make his debut until the end of September, and needing to make up for lost time in his bid to impress the City faithful.

"For every player it is disappointing when you come to a new club and are injured for six or seven games," said Boateng.

"You look forward but you can't play and other people are coming in. It was frustrating. But now I am happy to be in my normal rhythm of playing every three days."
