Blues contribute to Foe fund

The MVF Memorial Fund was set up by City fans following the shock death of former City midfielder Marc-Vivien Foe in June 2003 to help continue the work he did with youngsters in his native Cameroon.

Blues have raised almost £10,000, which was presented along with hundreds of pieces of donated kit, on Saturday.

An 18-month plan has now been drawn up for the distribution and administration of the funds and activities in Cameroon, focusing on youth development (11-19-year-olds) and sport, but the Fund's work goes on.

The project includes:

  • leadership training
  • working with a minimum of 5,000 children to improve their sporting skills
  • development of a basic football infrastructure and specific provision kits and equipment in a number of communities
  • 300 young leaders in five schools organising subsequent events
  • community activity covering HIV/AIDS awareness and income generating activities
