Anelka overlooked by France

Anelka has failed to impress France national team boss Jacques Santini and although the French are without Auxerre's Djibril Cisse and Juventus star David Trezeguet through injury there is still no place for the City forward.

The 23-year-old has been in tremendous form for City this season and has scored seven times for City since his £13 million move to Maine Road in the summer.

Anelka was recently refused permission to play in France in a friendly, staged to raise money for those hit by floods in South East France, because Kevin Keegan wanted him in his side for the Worthington Cup tie at Wigan.
