Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has finally joined City this evening for an undisclosed fee.

The Togo striker, who was named African player of the year in 2008 signed a five year contract and was greeted by around 300 fans at the City of Manchester Stadium.

"I can't wait to play for City's fans and show them what I can do," exclaims Adebayor who will now fly out to South Africa to join his new team mates as the attempt to restore some pride following today's defeat to Orlando Pirates.

Adebayor joins fellow new recruits Gareth Barry, Roque Santa Cruz, Stuart Taylor and Carlos Tevez in the City ranks, which will hopefully be swelled further should manager Mark Hughes eventually be successful in persuading John Terry, Joleon Lescott of both the Eastlands for the new season.
